India China Border: After showing their prowess in counter-terrorist operations and airport security in the Kashmir Valley, the Garud Special Forces of the Indian Air Force have been deployed since May 2020 for specialist operations along the LAC. Garuda commandos have been deployed at high altitude places on the border of China.
Using its special forces in these operations, the Indian Air Force has also equipped them with the latest weapons like the American Sig Sauer assault rifle along with the latest AK-103. This is the same rifle whose latest version AK-203 will be introduced in the country under the Make India scheme. Indian Air Force officials have told news agency ANI that the Garuda Special Forces are deployed in border areas along the China border from eastern Ladakh to Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, where they will conduct specialist operations in case of any requirement.
The country’s ‘Garuda’ is deployed since the year 2020
The deployment of these troops on the LAC was done only in the year 2020, when the Indian Air Force deployed itself aggressively to counter the Chinese attack in the region. In fact, ANI recently visited the Garuda Regimental Training Center. During this, the weapons and equipment given to the commandos were also seen there. Officials told about these weapons that it includes modern and latest weapons like Sig Sauer, AK series assault rifles besides Israeli Tver rifles.

‘Garuda’ is equipped with these weapons
The soldiers have Galil sniper rifles as well as Negev Light Machine Guns which can take down enemy soldiers from a range of 800-1000 metres. The Garud team had carried out the Rakta Hajin operation in Jammu and Kashmir, in which the soldiers used navigation LMGs. In this operation, Garud soldiers had killed 5 terrorists.
